It’s no secret that trauma and abuse is bad for your health, wellbeing, and sense of self.

It messes with your nervous system, immune system, brain, mind, emotions, energy.

Leaves you feeling like you’re losing your mind. Like you can’t do anything right and everything is your fault.

Like you aren’t good enough.

Like you don’t deserve love and kindness.

Like you’ll never be safe.

And being free from it is like breathing for the first time.

After leaving family and/or domestic violence and abuse, you’ve started rediscovering who you are and rebuilding your life, finding little bits of beauty amongst the ruins.

But you weren’t expecting it to be this hard.

The light at the end of the path seems so close, yet so far away. Along the path? Shadows, fear, and anxiety about what is to come.

You Find Yourself:

  • Having flashbacks, body pain, and becoming triggered out of what feels like no-where, which is keeping you feeling overwhelmed, stressed, hurting, and exhausted;
  • Staying small or silent for fear of angering, annoying, or pushing away the people around you;
  • Feeling unable to make decisions, or trust that you can even make a decision, because every decision feels like the wrong one;
  • Wanting to let all your feelings out and scream, cry, yell, laugh, but you’ve heard so many times that you’re too dramatic, hysterical, and/or overemotional, or that you’re being manipulative, that you won’t do it. Or maybe you can’t, no matter how hard you try;
  • Wanting to go for a new job, start a business, take up a new hobby or make new friends, but you’ve been made to feel worthless, unimportant, and like you can’t do anything right so many times that you wonder whether there’s even any point, and you end up sabotaging yourself;
  • Wanting to put yourself out there and start dating again, but the thought of dating another person fills you with anxiety: how do I tell the difference between the good ones and the ones that will hurt me? What if the good ones are all gone and this is as good as it gets?,

AND/OR

  • Asking yourself: Do I even deserve to be happy and have good things in my life?

But you know that there must be more than this.

And you want it. Badly.

You want to find your way through the shadows and fear.

You want to trust yourself and rely on your intuition, senses, and memory.

You want to see the world and the people around you for what and who they are.

You want to love and be loved.

You want to rise above everything weighing you down and thrive.

...

You’ve tried to tell yourself that reacting and responding the way you are isn’t rational. You’re not in that situation anymore: you should be doing things differently. Perhaps you’ve gone to therapy, or learned some coping mechanisms, and have become aware of your patterns. You can catch them after they start and use various techniques to manage them.

But repeatedly doing that is exhausting.

Time-consuming.

Sometimes you just avoid the triggering situations altogether to avoid the stress, even if it heavily inconveniences you, because you just… you just can’t that day.

Let me tell you a secret: it’s not your fault that you’re struggling.

You are not a failure because you got out of an abusive situation and didn’t quickly start thriving. What’s happening is that, even though your trauma occurred in the past, your mind and body think you are still living it in the present.

As a result, your mind and body are running in survival mode.

This helps you when you need to survive. But once you start moving from surviving to thriving, it sabotages you instead.

I understand this all too well, because I’ve lived it.

  • I’ve experienced physical, mental, emotional, sexual, social, and financial abuse. I’ve experienced coercive control.
  • I know what it’s like to have someone gaslight me, cast blame on me unfairly, twist my words, and tear down my self esteem and self worth.
  • I’ve experienced what it’s like to have lies told about me, and have experienced attempted character assassination.
  • I’ve used coping mechanisms to manage triggering situations, and have avoided situations to avoid triggers, even when it was detrimental to me.
  • I’ve felt weighed down by the world, drowning in stress and feelings of hopelessness and despair.

And yet, I’m still here and on the path of thriving.

Colette Brown RCT.
Your Trauma Healing Guide

I help magical people create positive change in the world (for themselves and the people they care about) and rise from the ashes of their past and ancestral trauma and abuse.

I pair my personal experiences of experiencing, and healing from, trauma and abuse with my training and experience in facilitating and receiving Root Cause Therapy, Emotion Code, Chakra Work, and Energy Work, allowing me to effectively and empathetically guide you on your own healing and thriving journey. Even when it gets complicated or unpredictable.

Thriving after abuse isn’t a destination: it’s a journey of ups and downs, and evolving goals, needs, and desires. For such a journey, I believe in facilitating healing from mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual/energetic perspectives. Root Cause Therapy combines timeline and somatic therapy to release trapped emotions and physiological responses from past trauma, so that your mind and body can stop living within that past trauma, and move forward along the path of thriving.

But more than that, it can help you uncover the truth and stop your trauma memories from gaslighting you. These memories hold all the things your abuser(s) made you believe about yourself, and shining a light on the truth will help set you free.

I Want to Make Something Very Clear Though:

Not all of your survival patterns will necessarily be outdated. And I refuse to gaslight you into releasing survival patterns if you still need them. Survival patterns do not count as limiting if they are helping to keep you safe and alive.

It's Time to Go From
SURVIVING TO THRIVING!

Rather than having a set number of sessions, Surviving to Thriving will be personalised to your needs.

Here's How it Works:

  • Book and Participate in Your Welcome Consultation
We will talk about the specific area(s) of focus that you want to focus on during our time working together. We will then release key trapped emotions using the Emotion Code Method to assist you on your healing journey, and you will have the opportunity to experience the core methods and modalities I work within.
  • Book Your Program
Based on this consultation, I will create a customised session schedule for you, and provide an overview of what each session will focus on (keeping in mind that this can be adjusted or changed as needed), along with booking and payment options.

A spot will be reserved for you for up to 7 days (with email reminders after days 2 and 5), after which time you can still book, but only subject to availability.
  • Your Intake Form
Once booked in, a client file will be created for you on Practice Better, a HIPAA compliant CRM software, where all forms and official communication will be sent from.

Prior to your first session, an intake form will be sent to you, along with information about the specific modalities I work within. Having the intake form filled out in advance of your first session saves us both time once the session starts and lets us get on with the healing process.

Please have this completed and returned by the day before your first session.
  • Your Program
Each session within your program will focus on processing and healing the trauma and/or trapped emotions behind the limiting beliefs that are holding you back, through the modalities of Root Cause Therapy, Emotion Code, Chakra Work, and/or Energy Work. Typically we can address between 1-2 limiting beliefs per session, as processing too much in one go can lead to becoming exhausted and burned out.

These sessions will last between 2-3 hours, so as to ensure that we have time to process everything and you do not feel rushed.

Throughout the program, along with all of your scheduled sessions, you’ll receive session summaries from me, as well as having the opportunity to ask questions and seek support between sessions.

You also have the option to add on additional pre and post sessions rituals based in the different aspects of Phoenix energy (Inspired by my Sun/Mercury/Mars/Pluto Stellium in Scorpio and my Lilith in Aries/North Node in Sagittarius):

    • Scorpio (Water): In a ritual inspired by The Morrigan, we will engage in a symbolic washing of the armour (the limiting belief(s) to be focused on in that session). This provides energetic support for releasing the limiting belief and associated trauma prior to the session.

    AND

    • Aries (Fire): I will burn a manifestation candle for you with the new belief carved into the wax, and 'dress' the candle with herbs/spices/petals, which provides energetic support for the integration period (the first 24-48 hours after your sessions).

Whether you are curious about these rituals and want to give them a try, or you already engage in spiritual or witchcraft practices, I highly recommend adding these on.
  • Your Final Session
In the final session of your program, we will briefly revisit all of the limiting beliefs addressed throughout your sessions, as well as your program focus from the Welcome Consultation.

This progress check allows us to celebrate how far you've come since the consultation. You've healed things you thought you'd be stuck with forever: you're amazing!

From here, you'll be set to move forward and thrive without getting in your own way. However, if you have another area of focus you'd like to work through, or if you ever feel like you need additional support in the future, you are welcome to get in touch!
FAQs

What is Root Cause Therapy?
Root Cause Therapy (or RCT) is a combination of timeline therapy and somatic therapy that goes to the root cause event(s) of trauma, releasing limiting beliefs, trapped emotions, and physiological reactions associated with trauma, and allowing learnings and insights* to be gained from the event(s). I say event(s), because sometimes, trauma doesn’t just have one event at its core, it has multiple that have influenced how it presents.

It’s not about gaslighting yourself into believing that something wasn’t as bad as you thought, or removing the memory of traumatic events. It’s about releasing responses associated with trauma that previously helped you survive, but are now holding you back in the present, and gaining learnings from them.

Healings can include working with events that occurred during your life, within the womb, and past generations/past lives, as well as future healings (these events may not necessarily come to pass as seen, but they’ll help you receive guidance on how to move forward).

Safety is incredibly important, as is a welcoming and non-judgemental space. I always make it clear that if something is too much at that time then we can take it slower, or come back to it later. Having a safe and comforting mind space to retreat to if needed is valid.

*These can include a range of things, personal to the person in the session, but are typically related to how one can move forward in life without carrying blame and guilt that is not theirs to carry, as well as fully understanding the truth of the event(s), rather than the version presented through a trauma or gaslighting lens.

What is Emotion Code?
Emotion Code uses muscle testing, the body’s magnetic field and governing meridian, exploratory questioning, and intuition to release trapped emotions that have become stuck in the body rather than being processed and released. This is not to say that emotions typically described as being ‘low vibration’ are necessarily always detrimental, rather, it is how we engage with them and process them that defines whether they are detrimental or not.

For example: anger can be engaged with and processed in such a way that we use it to create positive change in the world (on a personal, community, or societal level), or it can keep us stuck in the situation that triggered the anger in the first place. When we have found ourselves in a long term situation that has made us feel angry, and have not had the skills, space, and/or resources required to process that anger in a healthy way, it is more likely to become trapped and have a detrimental impact.

Emotion Code can be effective both used alone, and in combination with specific statements or limiting beliefs, and Chakra themes. It tends to be less intensive than Root Cause Therapy (RCT), and is especially beneficial for those who are not yet ready to fully process the events that traumatised them, and the associated emotions and physiological responses. It is also beneficial for children, teenagers, and even pets, anyone unable to go through the full RCT method.

However, less intensive does not equal surface-level. Emotion Code requires us to get to the truth of why we hold that trapped emotion, and its origins. If we don’t have that information, it won’t be released. While the method has a set of questions that are standard to ask to find this information, I take it further, and in some cases these are not only good alternatives, but essential for releasing the trapped emotion.

Other valid ways of finding this information required to release the trapped emotion(s) include:

  • Giving the client space and freedom to (what I call) ‘word-vomit’. If they don’t know how to start, I tell them to start by saying “I don’t know what to say” and to go from there. It is allowed to be as chaotic, rambling, and topic-jumping as they need it to be.
  • Asking them to feel where in their body and chakra-system the emotion is trapped, and then asking a series of questions related to the trapped emotion and chakra(s) in question.
  • Myself tuning into your energy field to see if there are any energetic attachments I can detect that are associated with the trapped emotion, then sharing those details with you and using muscle testing and/or intuition to determine how it is keeping you trapped, and what we can do to release it.

So as you can see, Emotion Code is just as powerful as RCT, but in its own way.

What if the Beliefs Holding Me Back are Keeping Me Safe?
There is a difference between being safe and being comfortable. Likewise, holding a trauma or 'limiting' belief does not mean it is automatically on the list of things to work on. If something is still required for your survival in your daily life, aka: a survival belief, I’m not going to select it as something to work on, because that would be gaslighting and we don’t do that here.

How Long is the Program?
The length of the program will vary depending on how many sessions you require and the frequency of your sessions.

Example: If you require 6 sessions after your Welcome Consultation, and you schedule them fortnightly, then your program will be 12 weeks in length.

Another Example: If you require 8 sessions after your Welcome Consultation, and you schedule them weekly, then your program will be 8 weeks in length.

How Much is the Program?
The cost of the program will vary depending on how many sessions you require and your annual income.

My pricing structure is as follows:

Standard Session Fee: $75 per session. This allows me to cater to a wide range of income levels, because your ability to heal from your trauma shouldn't be dependant on whether you have a high income or not.

From there, there are two additional fees:

If your annual income is between $50,000 - $80,000 AUD, there is an additional fee of $37.50 per session. Total Fee per Session: $112.50.

If your annual income is above $80,000 AUD, there is an additional fee of $75 per session. Total Fee per Session: $150.

There are three different ways you can choose to pay the additional fee:

  • Pay it Forward: Similar to the concept of paying forward a coffee. You pay the fee and I reserve a session for someone experiencing financial hardship. If you are paying the $37.50 fee, then you would be contributing towards one Pay it Forward Session for every two sessions you have. If you are paying the $75 fee, then it would be one session for every one session you have.

  • Pay a Tip: Paying a tip contributes to the cost of living expenses for both myself and my child, and allows me to continue to do what I do and support people in healing from their trauma and making positive change in the world, without having to raise my fees to an amount that would lock people out of this program or my standard trauma healing sessions (which do not focus on a particular project, but instead allow for focusing on specific limiting beliefs or traumas).

  • Make a donation to a NFP/Charity that focuses on supporting people through cost of living pressures and hardship: Through both personal experience, and through volunteer work, I have seen how the cost of living crisis affects individuals and families. Whether they have been experiencing hardship long term, had a sudden loss of income, experienced a medical emergency that turned their world upside down, experienced family or domestic violence, or any number of other reasons, housing and financial hardship can affect anyone at any time. Donating to organisations that provide support for those in hardship allows them to keep operating and supporting others.

Your first three sessions must allocate the additional fee to each of the three payment options (a Pay it Forward Session, Tip, and Donation). After that, it is up to you which options above you choose to pay the additional fees.

Please Note: If you are paying the $37.50 fee, at least one of your sessions after the first three must contribute to a Pay it Forward Session to make up the final $37.50.

Do You Offer Payment Plans?
While I have priced sessions at minimum $75 each to cater to a wide range of incomes, there may be times where you need more flexibility in how you pay.

To cater to this, I can schedule sessions fortnightly or monthly, rather than weekly, which allows for paying the cost of a session over the space of 2-4 weeks (for the fortnightly option this would be $37.50 per week, or for the monthly option this would be $18.75 per week or $37.50 per fortnight).

If you are paying the additional fee, I can still schedule your sessions fortnightly or monthly, however the additional fee will still need to be paid.

For the $37.50 additional fee: The fortnightly option would be $56.25 per week, or the monthly option would be $28.13 per week or $56.25 per fortnight.

For the $75 additional fee: The fortnightly option would be $75 per week, or the monthly option would be $37.50 per week or $75 per fortnight.

If you are experiencing hardship, please ask me about the Pay it Forward Sessions. If I have any available, I can book you in for one, or I can add you to the waitlist for Pay it Forward Sessions.
